New zero emission hydrogen fuel cell car by Honda Motors

Honda Motor Co has begun commercial production of its new zero-emission, hydrogen fuel cell car, called the FCX Clarity.

The midsize four-seat sedan, which runs on hydrogen and electricity, emits only water vapour and none of the gases believed to be responsible for global warming.

Honda says the vehicle offers two times better fuel efficiency than a gas-electric hybrid and three times that of a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle.

The car will initially be available for lease starting July to a limited number of customers in southern California and then in Japan later this year.

Honda says it expects to lease a few dozen units in the US and Japan within a year, and about 200 units within three years.

One of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of wider adoption of fuel cell vehicles is cost and the lack of hydrogen fueling stations.

After Big B its Ram Gopal Varma to turn Blogger

The latest to mount the blogwagon is none other than our own Ram Gopal Verma. Ramu, who has taken to blogging at Amitabh Bachchan's behest, reportedly loves the blog experience.

Ramu, who earlier had sworn that he would never blog, has started his own blog site. He says in his blog entry, "But blogging sounded like so much fun. It sounded like a very naughty activity."

"Besides, everyone who is worth anything these days is blogging. I couldn't be left out, could I?" reasons the man who loves to do the unpredictable.

Varma admits Big B influenced him to take to blogging. In fact, the super star urged the director to take the plunge.

"At first I laughed off the very thought of starting my own blog. I kept wondering how Amitji would sustain the blog on a day-to-day basis. Then I saw how passionately devoted he was to it. I grew interested," said Varma.

However, Varma's intentions and purpose are very different from Big B. he says, "The Big B's big blog is a full on day-to-day affair. He talks about his day-to-day activities. I think he basically sees it as a platform to express his thoughts unhampered and to communicate his thoughts with his audience. I won't be going to my blog site every day."

Well, Ramu's blog comes a week before the release of his "Sarkar Raj" on June 6. Just the right time to promote his film! Well, when his contemporaries like Aamir, SRK and Salman bank on blog, then why would our Ramu be far behind

EMRAAN HASHMI KISSING CHEERLEADER'S AT IPL MATCH

Emraan Hashmi is rarely away from the news, most of it controversial. According to him, the"serial kisser" tag seems to be too heavy a price he is paying for kissing on screen. After all, there have been other actors who kissed on screen.

Recently, ex-cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu commented on Emraan's kissing act with cheerleaders during an Indian Premier League match. According to Sidhu, instead of banning cheerleaders from IPL matches, Emraan should be banned from kissing on screen. Bored of the hype over his kiss, Emraan said, "I think the censor board is capable of deciding what scenes should be cut from a film. I do not think he is capable of deciding what should remain and what shouldn't."

As for kissing during the IPL match, when Emraan reached the venue, perhaps the cheerleaders couldn't contain themselves and kissed him in public. Having nothing to say about it, Emraan said, "You need to ask them why they kissed me. I think this is being blown out of proportion."

Emraan had declared while shooting for his last flick, Awaarapan, that he would not kiss on screen. However, his latest release Jannat has him doing what he's best known for. Ask him to comment on that and Emraan says, "I lied then. Forgive me."

Juhi Chawla Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner says, IPL exciting but also stressful

On being asked whether she prefers Shah Rukh as a friend, as a co-actor or as a business partner, Juhi flashed her million-dollar smile and replied, "I like Shah Rukh everywhere! He is a sharp person and great fun to be with. He is great in whatever he does and, yes, he is truly a joy."

Besides acting, it is her involvement in the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches that sets her pulse racing. Juhi, who is co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders team along with Shah Rukh, said, "IPL is really exciting, but it is also stressful for me."

Dressed in a simple kurti and pants with no accessories, Juhi spoke about her recently released film. The initial response to the film has not been good, but Juhi asserted that it was being appreciated the world over. "I am so happy that the film is being appreciated. I had a great time working with the child (Aman Siddiqui) and Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan), and it is a special film for me," she said. Since the film was centred on Amitabh and Aman, didn't she feel overshadowed? "I have been asked about this many times but, frankly, I could neither have played the ghost nor the child! So, there is nothing like being overshadowed in the film. I feel that as long as we play our given parts well, we are noticed and our work is also appreciated," Juhi said.

Talking about her future projects, Juhi said she was playing the role of a fortune-teller in Aziz Mirza's Kismet Konnection. 'It's a small role but a very different one,' she said.

Rashtriya Janata Dal now says "Lalu's Chhat Puja is for Maharashtrians"

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) now says that its decision to hold "Chhat Puja" in Mumbai was not a show of strength to challenge the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). RJD General Secretary Shyam Rajak said Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi have been performing Chhat Puja for several years. "RJD is not against Maharashtrians. Laluji and Rabridevi will pray for Maharashtra's prosperity. No political overtones should be seen in the move," he added.

Chhat Puja celebration would not see any law and order problem."it will be celebrated in a peaceful manner,"he added.

Further Shyam Rajak said, Raj Thackeray was too small a leader to be compared to Lalu Prasad. "Laluji is a national leader and even proved his credentials as a management guru by turning the fortunes of indian railways. Raj Thackeray has become insane. He has no interests of Maharashtra in his mind but the real issue is about claiming the political legacy of his uncle, "he said.

Rajak said Biharis were not beggars, but worked hard to earn their bread and better wherever they have settled down. "At the same time, they have contributed to the development and prosperity of the region they have settled in,"he said.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray got Police Notice for his Speeches

Police served a notice to MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who targeted north Indians recently, asking him to observe restraint and not to commit any cognisable offence through his speeches and writings which can create law and order problems.

Raj Thackeray, however, refused to accept the notice forcing the police team to paste it outside his Shivaji Park residence here.

The notice says a certain section of the society feels insecure in the wake of recent events which can create a law and order situation, said a senior police officer who pasted the notice on Raj's residence late this evening.

"In his political activities, he must not commit any cognisable crime is what the notice says. This is basically a preventive notice,'' said the officer.

The notice has been served under the povisions of Section 149 of the Criminal Procedure Code and can be used against Raj in a court if he commits a cognisable crime, the officer added.

Police, who had served a similar notice on Raj before his rally on May 3, are contemplating action against him for promoting enimity between different groups of people during Saturday's 70-minute speech in which he attacked north Indians.

Raj, who led a violent anti-north Indian camapign in February, was arrested on the same charge on February 13 before being released on bail.

India is suffering silently from China's cyber warfare

India is suffering silently from China's cyber warfare army. Over the past one and a half years, officials said, China has mounted almost daily attacks on Indian computer networks, both government and private, showing its intent and capability. Sustained assault almost coincides with the history of the present political disquiet between the two countries.

According to senior government officials, these attacks are not isolated incidents of something so generic or basic as "hacking" they are far more sophisticated and complete and there is a method behind the madness.

Publicly, senior government officials, when questioned, take refuge under the argument that "hacking" is a routine activity and happens from many areas around the world. But privately, they acknowledge that the cyber warfare threat from China is more real than from other countries.

The core of the assault is that the Chinese are constantly scanning and mapping India's official networks. This gives them a very good idea of not only the content but also of how to disable the networks or distract them during a conflict.

This, officials say, is China's way of gaining "an asymmetrical advantage" over a potential adversary.

The big attacks that were sourced to China over the last few months included an attack on NIC (National Infomatics Centre), which was aimed at the National Security Council, and on the MEA.

Other government networks, said sources, are routinely targeted though they haven't been disabled. A quiet effort is under way to set up defence mechanisms, but cyber warfare is yet to become a big component of Indias security doctrine. Dedicated teams of officials all underpaid, of course are involved in a daily deflection of attacks. But the real gap is that a retaliatory offensive system is yet to be created.

And it's not difficult, said sources. Chinese networks are very porous and India is an acknowledged IT giant!

There are three main weapons in use against Indian networks BOTS, key loggers and mapping of networks. According to sources in the government, Chinese hackers are acknowledged experts in setting up BOTS. A BOT is a parasite program embedded in a network, which hijacks the network and makes other computers act according to its wishes, which, in turn, are controlled by "external" forces.

The controlled computers are known as "zombies" in the colourful language of cyber security, and are a key aspect in cyber warfare. According to official sources, there are close to 50,000 BOTS in India at present and these are "operational" figures.

What is the danger? Simply put, the danger is that at the appointed time, these "external" controllers of BOTNETS will command the networks, through the zombies, to move them at will.

Exactly a year ago, Indian computer security experts got a glimpse of what could happen when a targeted attack against Estonia shut that country down it was done by one million computers from different parts of the world and many of them were from India! That, officials said, was executed by cyber terrorists from Russia, who are deemed to be more deadlier.

The point that officials are making is that there are internal networks in India that are controlled from outside a sort of cyberspace fifth column. Hence, the need for a more aggressive strategy.

Key loggers is software that scans computers and their processes and data the moment you hit a key on the keyboard.

This information is immediately carried over to an external controller so they know even when you change your password. Mapping or scanning networks is done as a prerequisite to modern cyber warfare tactics. MEA has a three-layered system of computer and network usage only the most open communication is sent on something called "e-grams".

The more classified stuff uses old-economy methods ironically, probably the most secure though a lot more time-consuming. The same is true of other critical areas of the government. But the real gap inside the national security establishment is one of understanding the true nature of the threat.

National security adviser M K Narayanan set up the National Technology Research Organization, which is also involved in assessing cyber security threats. But the cyber security forum of the National Security Council has become defunct after the US spy incident. This has scarred the Indian establishment so badly that it's now frozen in its indecision. This has seriously hampered India's decision-making process in cyber warfare.
